​ Kazbegi Cycling Tour

Tbilisi, Ananuri, Gudauri, Kazbegi

6 Days / 5 Nights

Day 1: Arrive in Tbilisi

Arrive at Tbilisi International Airport and check-in at hotel.

Overnight: Tbilisi

 

Day 2: Tbilisi – Kazbegi

After breakfast, take an SUV jeep to Lake Bazaleti, the starting point of the ride. Cycle from this stunningly magnificent lake, ride to Ananuri Castle and Jinvali Reservoir. After cycling 30 km, we have an opportunity to swim in the Jinvali reservoir. Visit Ananuri Castle was built in the 16th and 17th centuries and is the most significant fortress in the Georgian mountains. After visiting Ananuri Castle, take a jeep to the famous Gudauri Ski Resort. We recommend to take part in paragliding activities in magnificent Caucasus mountains. Drive to visit Kazbegi through the pass of Gudauri Ski Resort.

Altitude gain of 600 meters

Day 3: Kazbek

After breakfast, ride to Kazbegi Holy Trinity Cathedral (the church is located at an altitude of 2200 meters). The cathedral was our first stop. While visiting the cathedral built in the Middle Ages, you can overlook the fantastic panoramic view over Kazbegi town and its perfect scenery. Then cycle from  church to the Kazbegi Glacier. Kazbegi Glacier is the third highest in the Caucasus and the second highest in Georgia (5054 m above sea level). After a total of 5-6 hours of riding, we will return to Kazbegi Hotel for a rest on the amazing and magnificent single track. The total ride length is 40 kilometers.

The altitude gain is 1000 meters.

Day 4: Kazbegi

After breakfast, we cycle to the amazingly magnificent high mountain – Chaukhi glacier. The Chaukhi Glacier is 4,800 meters above sea level and is covered with ice and snow all year round. At Chaukhi valley we have a chance to meet many wild Caucasian bisons and eagles. We ride on dual and single tracks. The track is not very technical, but it is not that simple for both professional drivers and beginners in the category. After riding, return to Kazbegi Hotel to rest.

Day 5: Kazbegi – Tbilisi

After breakfast, transfer to Kobi village by car. From Kobi, we will start riding in the Truso Valley, our mountain biking tour will take about 4 hours. We will be riding through one of the most magnificent high valleys in Europe. The Truso Valley looks like a paradise with huge mountains. This place will take us flying to medieval times, where the nature and houses are like something out of a fairy tale. After riding for 30 kilometers, we drive to the hotel in Tbilisi and take rest.

Day 6: Tbilisi Day Tour – Departure

After breakfast, drive to Tbilisi Old Town. In the sixth century Tbilisi became the capital of the Iberian Kingdom in eastern Georgia. In the old city we will visit the Metekhi Cathedral built in the 6th century. Name of Metekhi means "the back garden of the king`s palace". During the rule of Russia and the Soviet Union, "government" changed the purpose of the church, and by itself appearance of church shows signs of destruction. Then we will take the cable car up to Narikala Castle, the most famous attraction in Tbilisi. The fortress was built in the 4th century, and locals have since called it the Mother Fortress. From Narikala Castle, we can overlook the panoramic view of Tbilisi New and Old Towns. Then continue to visit the sulfur bath area. We can enter the sulfur baths and enjoy the hot spring water that has many benefits for blood pressure and skin. Finally, we hike to Shardeni Street, the busiest pedestrian street in Tbilisi, and visite Tbilisi Peace Bridge—the Peace Bridge is a glass bridge designed by an Italian designer after the Georgia-Russia War in 2008 and became a symbol of peace. Afternoon we will visit the Holy Trinity Cathedral, one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world. Built between 1999 and 2004, the cathedral became a symbol of Georgian freedom and independence. 

After fascinating trip, we will enjoy best food in Tbilisi and prepare for departure.
